Archiving Policy

Objective

The primary objective of the archiving policy of Birat Journal of Health Sciences (BJHS) is to ensure the long-term preservation, integrity, security, and continuous accessibility of all published scholarly content.

Archiving Methods

BJHS supports digital preservation through recognized archiving systems, institutional repositories, and scholarly databases to safeguard published research articles, review papers, case reports, and supplementary materials.

Institutional Repository

Published articles and journal issues are maintained in the journal's online publishing system. BJHS also has a presence in the Nepal Health Research Council's NepMed repository, supporting the accessibility and discoverability of its scholarly publications.

PKP Preservation Network (PKP PN)

Birat Journal of Health Sciences has archived journal content through the Public Knowledge Project Preservation Network (PKP PN).

The ISSN International Centre's Keepers Registry confirms that BJHS content from 2017–2025 has been preserved through the Public Knowledge Project preservation network.

LOCKSS and CLOCKSS

BJHS recognizes the importance of distributed preservation technologies such as LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) and CLOCKSS (Controlled LOCKSS). These systems provide additional approaches to protecting scholarly publications against permanent data loss. Direct BJHS participation in these networks is not independently confirmed.

Third-Party Archiving Services

BJHS supports long-term preservation through established scholarly preservation services and repositories. These services contribute to the security, reliability, and continued availability of published research.

Indexing and Repository Databases

BJHS is discoverable through scholarly indexing and discovery services, including DOAJ, Crossref, and OpenAlex. These platforms enhance the visibility and accessibility of published scientific literature.

Version Control

BJHS supports the integrity of the scholarly record by maintaining accurate publication information and documenting corrections, updates, and retractions where applicable.

Accessibility

BJHS follows an Open Access Policy, providing unrestricted online access to published articles and promoting the global exchange of medical and health sciences knowledge.

Data and Supplementary Material Preservation

BJHS encourages the preservation of supplementary research materials, datasets, and supporting documents through appropriate digital formats, accurate metadata, and reliable storage practices.
